Scored a couple of books at the bookstore yesterday..
Taking Up The Runes: A Complete Guide To Using Runes In Spells, Rituals, Divination, And Magic
by Diana L. Paxson

and
A Book of Pagan Prayer
by Ceisiwr Serith

Both seem to be well thought of among folks at ADF, especially the latter one.

Plus I got a bonus goodie: I found the Druidcraft Tarot set, the one with the deck AND the book.. the one I haven’t been able to find as a set on Amazon. Been looking for it for at least 6 months now. Coolness.

Very glad I listened to that voice that said “No, really, you do need to go in the bookstore.”

This week’s online dedicant class with Rev. Jessie dealt in large part with nature awareness… So I took myself off to a free composting class this morning put on by the county extension service. Good stuff. I know a fair bit about composting, but I figured I might learn a few things. And I did. :) A nice and unexpected bonus is that after class, everyone who wanted one was given a free composting bin to take home and use. Once it’s assembled, it’s a small hole plastic mesh tube approximately four feet tall and four feet in diameter.. that is huge. It’s adjustable in size though. I expect to be starting small for now.. my yard has NO trees :( so I won’t have a lot in the way of things to add to the pile. Gotta start somewhere. :)

I am so far behind, LOL. That’s OK though, oak trees don’t grow overnight. Working on it. Now that I’m home (I was out of town for a couple of weeks for DragonCon) I am getting back into my studies. Finished “Bonewits’s Essential Guide to Druidism” (awesome book) and “A History of Pagan Europe.” Currently I am working on Peter Berresford Ellis’ book “Celtic Myths and Legends”. it’s HUGE. Over 600 pages in paperback. That one is definitely going to take a while.. and I read very fast.

I also need to get to writing down my assignments.. in our online class tonight, we got two weeks worth of homework to make up for missing last week’s class (due to the Labor Day holiday.) I’m still working on my previous assignments. O.o

To be answered: Questions from week One of “The ADF Dedicant Path
Through the Wheel of the Year”

• Why have you chosen to take the first steps on the Dedicant Path?
• Is this a step on your path, or will this become the Path itself?
• What do you expect to learn?
• What would you like to get out of this journey?
• Do you know where this path will take you?
• If you have just joined ADF, why have you chosen to work on this
immediately?
• If you have been in ADF for a long time, why are you starting only now?
• Does it look hard or easy?
• Which requirements appear to be difficult to you now, and which appear to
be easy?
• Do you have doubts, questions, or concerns that you need to ask about?

Reading..

I’m starting to work on the dedicant’s recommended reading list. So far I’m reading:

The Druids, by Stuart Piggott

and

A History of Pagan Europe.

Going to take some time, but that’s OK. I am sure that i will be reading them more than once as well. I definitely can understand why ADF recommends starting with only one or two books. I don’t want to try reading several unrelated books all at the same time. Patience is definitely one of the virtues I need to work on. *smile*

I have been feeling that I’m neglecting the spiritual side of my life..

.. so I saved my pennies and did something that I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time.. joined ADF.   Looking forward to my studies.  This blog will be used to document my journey.
